We want to be better!

My only concerne:

"DON'T CHANGE ANYTHING TO KEEP THE PRICE DOWN"

I'd rather pay a couple more dollars to have it stay the same.
The longer it stays the same, the better I can get with it.

If there was anything I could make better it would be those lids
on the universal clear, they seem to stick and are hard to turn.
The plastic on the can turns with them when stuck.
I solved the problem by saving the old ones,
After I pour some clear out I now always put a clean lid back on
and throw the old lid in a cup of thinner for a few days.
I keep several that I rotate.
It's pretty petty but it's the only thing I can think of, except
maybe pretty girls delivering the product, that would really help!

Jim, here is the deal on the lids, for years we had the metal caps, now if you don't clean the metal cap and it sets a week, it was not unusual to have and take a pair of channel locks to break the thing loose and sometimes it would rip the metal right off the top of the gallon or activator can.

Out of good will, I could not Begin to tell you how many I replaced at NC.
Plastic is way better but bottom line is if you don't wipe with a paper towel before putting the lid back on, it could be an issue.

So you don't think I'm blowing smoke up u's rear end, I could save 50 cents a gallon can going back to screw on metal lids @ 15,000 gallon "F-style cans" a month that is a lot of pocket change.

Edit,
I lied, just looked costs me 78 cents a gallon.

I think you should have different ads to rotate over a several month period (possibly one featuring the Judge that was recently sold at auction).
I agree with this. I have used the ABRN and Body Shop Business ads over the last couple of years and I contantly get the comment "Is the Blackend Mustang the only picture SPI has?"

Is there any way to get targeted mailings in certain areas to bring more attention to the product, is that a waste of money and time?

I hit some of the vendor shows, it brings the competiton's sales folks out in force and I haven't gained any painters.

How about a survey conducted by outside source asking body shops about SPI knowledge, if they heard about of used the product, etc... and jobber service.
I'm looking for anyway to increase sales for SPI in my area and any feedback would maybe identify specific needs (almost like this thread).

New ad, will have GTO and a State Farm job- we have you covered.

First time we have ever done an ad targeting the normal insurance work type shops.

Thanks Berry, I understand.
Like I said, it's a petty issue that's not really worth mentioning, but I did anyway.
Maybe no lids at all is the real answer LOL.
Like I said, useing a clean lid each time works for me, I have plenty.
It's more of an issue for me than most because I do so
many little jobs that a can of clear gets opened and closed a lot.
But like I said before DON'T CHANGE ANYTHING, I'm happy.

P.S. I complain about the lids on my whiskey bottles too,
after a few openings I can't get them back on straight:D:D:D:D.

Yea, those corks in wine bottles piss me off, best bet is to open and not reseal just use it all, wine or clear.

Thats the best idea I've heard all week!

I don't have that problem, a bottle only lasts for a few nights of drinking, so I only have to open it twice.. lol.

I agree with getting the blackened stang off the covers and ads. sorta wore out that one. I think some new ones are due.

My only beef is with the reducer lids. They are so large, pouring accurately is more difficult, and screwing on the lid one-handed is out because the large lids require enough torque that the container must also be held.

It just seems weird to me that I have to stop and put everything down just to screw the lid onto a can of reducer.

But, since the product is good and I don't expect things to change, I just get a funnel and pour my new reducer into old cans with small metal lids. They are clean inside, but look like hell on the outside!

didn't we all agree a coule few years ago that the bigger lids were the way to go for the reducer? the smaller lids glug and get reducer all over the place.

lol, I guess it's just personal preference. I do tend to be a bit weird.

I don't know if it is just the way I hold the can or what, but I don't get "glug" with my small top cans.

if you'd drink beer instead of whiskey you wouldn't have to fool with a lid.:D

as for the reducer lid they are fine. my gun sets in a holder anyway. my only wish is for epoxy acc in qrts but i'm slow as grandpa on the pot . i dont paint the whole car at once so i may have 1/2 of a qrt setting for a while .

I don't think the lids are going to affect sales or affect marketing.
I think they are just a matter of personal preference

i cuss myself everytime i open a big cap when i forget to clean the it off all the way to the tool box to grab some channel locks, lol. The smaller caps are easier to open if you forget the clean them off but...like said above its a user error. my day is full of em!

That is exactly right and the only reason I did it BECAUSE it poured better.

A you tube clip would do wonders showing techniques in prep and spraying for those people that are new to SPI to show a visual of the final products finish also touching on the dry time speed with a buff cut and polish segment
