We want to be better!

Maybe someone could make some screw-in adapters that could convert a big cap to a small cap. Re-usable and could be also used on many other containers

With the gallon containers with the smaller caps you need to pour with the spout at the high end of the can as you tip it so air enters as the fluid comes out-then it doesn't glug-hope that makes sense.

I think your web site needs to be updated.
- Tech and material information should be a menu item so that you don't have to drill down the extra steps
- Give the option of viewing them as HTML as well as PDF
- The majority of users that will use the "corporate" website will most likely be professionals. With that in mind:
- Adding youtube videos and how-to's is nice but probably better suited at the forum level
- Online Ordering - It's fairly simple to setup now with over the counter software packages. It can also help provide more time for technical questions, gossip, etc.
- In addition to the documents that describe the paint process, incorporate a flow chart where each action can be used to suggest a product
- Live Chat seems to be pretty popular with smaller companies because it allows a more "personable" presence without the additional overhead of dedicated customer reps.
- As for waterborne and stuff. Going Green is the wave to ride on. Every industry needs to get on board. With government mandates and incentives, it's only a matter of time before the cost is no longer a factor

My thoughts:

SPI already has live chat, 706-781-2220, and it is far better than the phony little pop up system that is becoming popular with the big guys and their attempt at Pakistani customer service. To slow and to hard to communicate with IMHO.

Waterborne paint = buy all you want an Lowes or Home Depot, it belongs on a house IMHO.

Down loadable pdf's would be great! Awesome idea.

A flow chart is another great idea for the perfect paint job. Make it much easier to follow for hobbyist. Make it a pdf so we can print it and use it as a check list of our progress which is months if not years.

You tube videos, I wouldn't waste my time on it. A zillion of them out there now with so much misinformation that any truth will be lost in the mix of bs that is You Tube.

Going green, a great color for a 63 Ranchero.
Green is a marketing fad imho. Jut another way to get the Lemmings money.
I believe as solvent chemistry gets more refined the waterborne paints at the repair and restoration level will disappear.

the above are the opinions of a Senile Old Fart stuck in the days of old when men were bold and truths were told.

the internet has allowed every shop monkey wannabe to claim to be what he will never be . i try to not post much but sometimes theses morons are just flat screwing some poor guy who knows no better. there are enough you tube wannabe stars out there already.

best advice is to verify the claims before listening to somebody.

@sof - agree green is somewhat a fad. But from a business perspective, following trends is important.
@shine - agreed
Other ideas-with facebook and twitter, you have a huge audience that you can target your products to. With all the positive comments on this and other forums, users can get a quick overview of what you offer.

i gave away awards and tshirts at car shows. this is where your major market for spi is. just like sema a booth at goodguys and nsra meets will do well. give away hats and tshirts and always an award ..

don't know if it has been mentioned or is even viable ....

all those tv shows painting vehicles - why can't you "sponsor" = give them the paint for a mention - when people see the result - that'll drive traffic ?

Stephen

Its cost alot more than free product. You need to give free product plus pay them thousands to use it. I was approached to do something for a bike on i think it was a speed channel show. It was free paint job plus additional 15g and no guarantees on anything.

Those shows have crossed my mind before and I have watched maybe about six shows and my opinion was they are really set up for "bottom feeding companies"

If most professional painters and body men, think like me (scary thought for sure) then they never tune in twice because of the bull.

Bottom feeders, don't advertise for the professional shops because they know a professional would never use the stuff and it a waste of money to advertise in those specific magazines.
So their advertising is all targeted to "the do it your self guy" as a miracle cure.

just like the idiots on hr.com and the duplicolor lacquer.

when i bj auction a year ago it recorded the last 3 min of 2 guys garage. they were wiping down a bare steel body with atf . proof that you cant fix stupid but you can put it on tv.

there were only a few good ones, tv shows, but they dont air anymore...new atleast. these new ones are just plain stupid.......like the desert valley restoration show whatever it is....saw them painting a car with a siphon gun with a dust mask on..lookled like 1k enamel.....on national television.

So their advertising is all targeted to "the do it your self guy" as a miracle cure.

New miracle clear from SPI.

Tech sheet:

Mix clear 1:1 with new "special beginner" activator from SPI.

If you are right handed grab gun with right hand, if left handed, use left hand.

In other hand, grab an Ice tea, coffee or the beer of your favorite NASCAR driver.

Just stand back and point gun, pull trigger, this is a self leveling, no runs, no trash clear (well we did not put any in the can) and best of all self buffing.

Yes you the new painter can turn out OEM paint jobs in your spare time.

HUM, could get rich? May want to add, it converts rust to clear as the rust start growing.
