Need advice

Is it possible that the paint in your cup started to kick before you sprayed the 2nd coat?
It may have just enough to cause this, its possible for sure. Heres a pic of the jambs i painted, before i decided to go satin black(long story). Same gun, same setup.

I'm assuming gravity feed gun? Did you remove the cup and squirt some thinner thru the gun between coats? If not, you may have had enough dried paint partially clogging the tip, or a build up of over spray on the air cap that cut off air flow.

Yes, i take the cap apart and clean in in between coats..

I don't think you have enough air. Also, are you sure you want 6:1? To me the product looks and performs best at 4:1 and is still pretty low gloss.
Man your on the money, i dont like the 6:1 as its too flat. I went with that as it says its "most popular". At this point i am probably sending the car to a painter, im tired of fighting it!

I'm sad to hear that, though you probably know what's best for yourself.
Yea i absolutely hate to give up but man, the heat is killing me! I dont have an ac in my shop and its been 100+ every dam day here in Texas. But hey, atleast i did the body work and it came out really good.

Well, i shot the jambs with epoxy today. It went on really good, all i did was remove the bubble filter on the gun, narrowed the fan just a tad. But, this is epoxy so idk.

Don't give up on the matte black, you can spray it just as easy as the epoxy. Learning is always hard but the end result is always a prize and sense of accomplishment, you have it done already just make sure you have everything in line before you respray.
