What is the magic number to start being concerned with on humidity? Looking at todays weather for example, it starts out at 90%, by lunch it is 70% and from 5-7pm it bottoms out at 56%. This is what the weather channel lists for today. Is there a cut off point that we should shoot to stay under? I know this is all irrelevant to a proper set up, but I am thinking for the home hobby guys.

Humidity is relative to the temperature so its almost always lower in the morning and then drops as the temperature rises, not because there is less moisture in the air, but because warm air can hold more moisture. I knew someone who lived way down deep in Mexico right on the gulf coast, where humidity comes from, he said it rained so much that the places that change oil would undercoat your car if it wasn't already done. He didn't say if it cost more or not.

This is the humidity I have to fight with and its 8:00am. IMG_6583 (640x427).jpg

Sorry about that typo, its highest in the morning and then drops as the temperature rises.

Around here its does whatever it wants and wins most of the time. I have to run a air dryer just to sand much less paint lol ! I have a toilet paper filter about 30ft from the compressor a air dryer ,and a airguardian dessacant filter and i have to change the toilet paper filter every 4hrs if i sand a lot.

Theirs about 30ft of copper pipe and 4 3ft drops before the first filter. Any suggestions? I'm planning on doing four 5ft drops kinda like a accordion with drains just haven't got to it yet.

Their are 5 drains before the first filter. One on the bottom of every drop, and one before the air guardian dessacant filter and the toilet paper filter is 6ft high.

I read somewhere the DAD500 doesn't need maintenance,
doesn't it have a desiccant that needs replacing?

LOL!!!!!!!!!! I have three of these things, trust me desiccant changes, once a year at home and one at work is about 2 months and another 3 months give or take.
I have not done anything with the two pre-filters and oldest one I think is 5 or 6 (not sure) years old at home but I have real good filters going into the unit.

Thanks Barry
Anyone have experience with this air dryer from harbor freight?
It has gotten great reviewsView attachment 1872
Yes I realize this thread is old, but I think more input would be helpful for someone else. I am not a huge fan of some frightening Harbor. I do not care for their stuff. But I did decide to try one of there dryers because I didn't want to spend a lot of money on one and I have had pretty good luck with it and It has worked well. I also have a desiccant filter in line after it ,going to my Airline I would buy one again
