Be praying for my Mom

Trying to be the best me, I can be
Hadn't posted this, but can't get to sleep so I figured I'd share. On Wednesday my Mother had open heart surgery to replace the mitral valve. Thankfully the Doc's were able to repair the valve rather than replace it. They also used a less invasive procedure than splitting the chest open. Was a long day Wednesday, getting her to the hospital at 4:30 and then sitting around waiting to hear the outcome. Thankfully she made it through the procedure well. Didn;'t get to speak with her till the next day due to the anesthia not wearing off completely for some hours after surgery. She's really weak (although they had her walking) and has a UTI from the catheter. Disturbing to see someone who was so healthy one day (she walked 2 miles the day before the surgery) seem so frail and confused the day after the surgery. Hoping she will pull through. I would appreciate your prayers Gents.

She will be in my thoughts Chris.
FYI Be aware that a UTI can cause stroke like symptoms,. My very healthy 96 yo mom was in and out of the hospitals and rehabs most of the summer until they finally got the antibiotics right to rid the infection.

Chris, wishing you & your mom good times ahead.
My dad's super healthy & active yet hit the floor with heart attack 1.5yrs ago.
1 stent, walker for less then a week, he's mixing cement, working on cars, he'll be 89 in 2 weeks & here next month trimming trees with me.

Edit- uti from foley common. I'm a paraplegic as ya know, always hard to pee the day foley comes out. Resumes normal.

I'll certainly be praying for your Mom Chris. This one hits close to home for me.

My Mom, also named Barbara by the way, had a stroke back in November and had to undergo a procedure the following day where she was under anesthesia. For several days after that she went through a mental state of confusion which scared me because I thought at the time that the stroke had brought on dementia. But after a few days we realized that it was a short term lingering affect of the anesthesia which happens in a lot of elderly patients. Thankfully she has recovered remarkably well, getting her strength back, and her mind is sharp as ever.
I'm praying the same for your Mom during this time and in the days ahead Chris, for I know how hard it is to watch someone you love go through something like that.
