87 Buick GN I'm doing a strip and paint on.

Shot some of the SPI clear, and buffed it real quick. I think I like it. This is a front fender off another GN. IMAG0146.jpg

Hello Chad,
You should post some. I've got the base done also.I will take some pictures later and post them. Trying to get everything ready for Halloween tonight. Do you know if you can wet sand this PPG base some just to get some small trash out of it before clearing it? Thanks Buddy.

I've heard that there are a few bases that you can't sand, but most would be fine. The tech seet should say. Make sure to spray atleast one more coat over the areas that you sand. If it is just one thin coat, you could clear an hour later.

By the way, it looks really nice so far!

I've never had any problems denibbing any of PPG's basecoats. You can call a paint rep if you're really concerned.

SPI Clear is on. Looks good, cut and buff time to come. After talking to Berry i relized my air pressure at the regulator was to low for the HS clear, making alittle more peel then i would like. Oh well, i will just have to sand a bit more. Thanks guys for the advise.DSC_2233.jpg

How did you like that PPG?
Loved the base. It layed down great with the SPI reducer. I struggled with the clear some. Come to find out i had my pressure regulator set way to low after talking to Berry. It came out peeler then I'm use to seeing. I tried my Sata 4000 LPH at first then changed back to Iwata 4000 LPH for the last coat. I liked it better spraying the clear.I have already started the cut and buff and so far i like what i see. I will post some pictures in a few of what i did today.

Its hard to tell how good it really is because it black i guess.DSC_2259.jpg

How car are you knocking it down? 1000, 1200?
Hit it first with 1500 grit then 2000 wet, then #1 3M compound on a wool pad and then final black glaze on a waffle pad. Slow process by hand wet sanding. I dont have much luck using a palm sander, plus I'm a little old school i guess, But I'm very pleased with the final product so far and that's what matter most.

I always block by hand but recently tried the 3000 trizac after my 2000. Holy shit did it cut down my polishing time!!!!

Looking great. You know what they say. "once you go trizact you won't go back". Yah, I know it's a terrible joke but it's no BS.

They are expensive, but damn are they worth it. I sprayed a hood a few weeks back. Da'd it down with 1200 then 1500/2000 by hand and then the trizacs. About 20 min of sanding and 20 min of polishing done!!

Here was outcome!

Sorry. Didnt mean to hijack. Trizacs 4 life!!
