Camaro is back and in need of repairs before paint.. The customer kept adding more and more for the other shop to do.. Originally it was going to have vintage air and new wiring harness. Then it turned into pulling the drive train, re working portions of the engine, tranny, disk brakes in the rear, new fuel lines, brake lines, new gas tank, smoothed fire wall, etc etc etc.. My customer figured he would do everything he ever dreamed of.

The downside ( for me, not the car!! ), is they also painted the sub frame and all suspension components, removing them to clean and paint. They pulled the rad support which gave me fits getting it in place and correct when I replaced the bushings. Nothing lines up now.. Nothing!!!! Quarter panels, fenders and doors all have damage, plus now I have to pull everything apart, get out my tape measure and realign all the work I had done before. From what I can tell the front passengers side is further forward now than the drivers and rad support is pushed over to the right of the car instead of center..

All in all Im pretty down that I have to redo what i did before to align everything, however it should surely go much better this time around. My goal is to get it aligned this weekend and then fix the damaged panels and give it a nice coat of polyester again to make sure we are dead straight before I blow it apart for paint.. The customer said he had no idea they were going to completely take the car apart, but Im not upset with him for something someone else did.

Moral of this story?? Gee I dont think there is one lol :p

Redo work sucks, especially if it was a fight the first time around. Hours is hours, add them to the bill!

Today was supposed to be a happy day, but has instead turned out to be sad.. I had began painting the car in pieces and the owner was coming over today to see a bunch of it shot and just hang out.. Pretty jolly older gentleman and was just excited as a teenager with their first car.. I called him this morning to find out that he had a heart attack last night and passed away.. Very sad for his wife.. He didnt have any kids and was only 64.. Im going to paint today in his memory....

Bondo,

So sorry to here that. Life is so short as it is. Live it to it fullest while we are here.

Wow, that sucks he didn't even get to see it finished let alone drive it. My condolences.

That's terrible:( Life isn't fair sometimes for sure, hopefully the Camaro finds future owners that appreciate your work as much as he did.

Oh man,, hate hearing stuff like this, life is just so short we never know what will be coming around the next corner.

Wow. Been following this for awhile now and am a bit stunned. Hoping everything works out for you and the owner's family!

I really wish I hadn't let him take it now. If I'd kept it my part would have been done , no money to squabble over and he would have seen it all painted instead of just part if it painted.
One positive thing, this was the second time in 15 years he was completely re doing the car and he was living his dream. If he's with the good Lord now, this ole car don't mean a thing ;-)
