OUCH!! At least he brought it to the right place, your projects are inspirational.

Looks like some filler over rusted holes on rear quarter?

I hope the owner is ready for a complete tear down. As JN pointed out that sure looks like a bondo over rustout on the wheel opening. Probably the typical rust out problems. Either Rusty puts on blinders and only enough to tie into the existing rusted stuff or, nah I dont think he would do that. Owner get ready for some downtime!

The owner restored this himself back in 1985 he cut out the rust than used fiberglass mat and bondo. Everything from the firewall back except rockers will be new.

One of the things that helped is he had a gas tank shield made for it and it also has subframe connectors.

Almost 30 yrs old fiberglass/bondo work....wonder how many miles got put on this ride over the years. Not bad for a DYI'er.

We have not had a lot of time to work on this because of other projects. The parts came in.

The engine was removed

We moved it to the shop and started removing the suspension

Because the subframe connectors were welded to the rear torque box the frame rail and rear floorboard was damaged but it stopped here.

You never know what is inside your rocker panels

The floors had been patched with fiberglass a long time ago.

I learn so much from your pictures, thank you, thank you, thank you!!

On my 66 I am thinking about replacing both rear quarters and the tail light panel. What order would you do those replacements?

1. Replace tail light panel
2. One quarter
3. Then the other

The only reason I ask is I was wondering if the car would flex too much with both rear quarters removed at the same time. I would definitely think it's too much to do both quarters and tail light panel.

I have not posted this build yet but I will soon.

Brian made a brace from some old metal we had than cut off both quarters and taillight panel on this 1965 Fastback
