What is your thoughts on the Sagola 4500 Extreme?

Haven't seen any mention of the SAGOLA 4500 in this forum, it's the been subject in another forum as much as the SATA 5000 is here. Any notable quotes or rumors that you are aware of? I don't think my Binks M1-G will do what I want with SPI SS and UNI CC without a truck load of wetordry. and on pusher motorhome no less. From what I've gathered the SATAjet 5000 B RP, Sagola 4500 Extreme and maybe the DeVilbiss GTI Pro (lite) might be good choices for SPI SS and UNI CC. OK, let's keep it friendly, and without evidence it's opinion which everyone is entitled to. Thanks for your insight.

I own one but unfortunately I have not used it yet. Len over at the autobodystore.com sells them and has a lot of good things to say about them. I think if you put Sagola in the search engine on this site, you might pick up a little information on them, but its not as popular on this site as Lens site.

I've tried a demo. Thought it was good, but not enough to make me want to change over from SATA. The machining is not as good as SATA and it does not feel as solid. Just my opinion. Sprays nice but again not in the same league with a Sata 5000 RP. The Sata 5000's are the best guns I've ever used. And you can get them for under $400 on Ebay.

Used the Sata's years ago as a Glasurit shop and just bought a 5000 rp w/1.3 my jobber had a great deal on them and love it. Yes Len sells and uses the Sagola so must be good and he will stand behind them. But I think everyone has an opinion. If I remember Barry tried one and was not happy may have been an older model.

My complaint is I spent extra money to buy the quart aluminum cup and it leaks at threads, so must use Teflon tape. The fix is the plastic cups that I hate, so gun been used about 6 times for test panels as i don't have time to screw with it.

I have both caps and if someone wants it $250 its yours, as just collecting dust.

I had a 4400 extreme in 1.4 size, great fan nice and even, bit of a hoser. The plastic cup it came with wouldn't fit, I had to ream the bottom of the cup where it meets the gun because it wouldn't clear.

Some other thing I didn't quite like is that this gun I had to use with a proper diaphragm regulator for the trigger to be smooth, with a cheater valve it was as if you had 120+ psi sitting against the trigger, it made it very stiff.

I ended up selling it to a shop that shoots a lot of SPI matte black, it lays it down extremely good.

Finding parts for it locally was/is an issue as well.

Yes, Outlaw, after I posted I thought I'd search as I had gone page by page back a couple years and I did find 3 mentions but didn't help me pick one.

Chris, something about German engineering and with a price point of $400 makes for a good argument. Have you bought anything through that EBAY link? Is there a customs flaming hoop to negotiate? I'm not sure I have a grip on the HVLP vs RP deal, HVLP is good for any area and RP is compliant if adjusted to use low pressure but is the gun to have so you can bump it up for atomization, whatever it is I'm pretty sure the RP is the gun to have for a do it yourself user and not as a regulated commercial painter.

Barry, put some epoxy primer on the threads and will not leak. Seriously, was that the 4500? And is the recommendation of a 1.4 nozzle using UNI CC go for ANY gun?

I'm pretty sure I know what Chris would shoot with, El Toro, Barry and Jorge, what's your gun of choice if you were using SPI SS and UNI CC? Thanks for the help. Lee

Well as I said the new Sata 5000 RP with a 1.3 set u is what I bought and I use it for clear ( SPI Euro clear ) just about every day and clear only, with that said my base guns are 20 years old devilblis hvlp. But know others who love the Sagola 4500. So for me the Sata

Also, don't overlook the Iwata Supernova WS400 EVO, I have one in 1.4 and it lays down the Universal nice and slick. Personally I can get a better finish out of the gun than the RP 5000.

The main difference between an HVLP and an RP is how much material each puts out. HVLP puts out less, I use an HVLP (Sata 2000) for base as that's what I'm used too. It's easier to do blends with as it does not put out as much material. It's lower overspray as it uses less pressure and puts out less material. The RP is my gun of choice for Clear. (any clear doesn't matter) It puts out more material than an HVLP which is what you want (up to a point) when shooting clear.
I've bought one gun from that link. Think it took 7 days for it to get to me. No issues whatsoever.

Oh and I use the 5000 RP 1.3 for the SPI clears as well as others. 1.4 may apply to other guns but the 1.3 is what you want in a RP. The 1.4 is a hoser
