Acetone and lacquer thinner will leave a film on your surface so don't use those.
For years before I discovered SPI, I did use Isopropyl Alcohol. Same technique as W&G remover, spray it on and wipe it off before it dries.

At what ratio? I have some 98% stuff that just sits.Might as well use it up.

We use Sprayway as a pre-prep cleaner for panels, mostly because it's handy, cheap, and effective. It can be used liberally on exteriors and jambs with no fear of damage or worrying about overuse of expensive product. It can be used as a final prep on scuffed basecoat if there is no 710 available, as 700 is too strong for basecoat. So far it's never caused us a problem but we still prefer to use the approved stuff on final when possible, perhaps out of superstition? Bare metal ALWAYS gets 700, nothing else cleans like it.

I use Dawn dish soap and that's all I ever use except for maybe a touch up
of a dirty spot before painting, then a little W&G.
But after Dawn, that's all.
That's what I used recently before painting my 55 Chevy.

Does sprayway have isopropyl alcohol or are you diluting it as mentioned above. Would windex and isopropyl alcohol 50-50 be close to the same ?

I don't think Sprayway has alcohol in it. It has some kind of very mild solvent in it that I have forgotten the name of, it's supposed to be mild and relatively non-toxic. The Sprayway we use comes in aerosol cans and is used as-is, I buy it at Costco in a 4-pack
