The SPI Vette

that is absolutely the worst site in the world for paint advice. once again you have deadbodyman on there promoting ospho under spi epoxy. even after being run off this site over it and being told numerous times not to do it by barry he's still at it. i just dont know how much longer i can post there but just think of the poor guys listening to him.

I joined Hotrodders back in about 2002, and spent a lot of time there. I posted in the transmission section for a long time, having done transmissions for a number of years and rebuilt over 5000 transmissions, I had a pretty good idea what I was talking about. Basically between Crosley and I there were very few questions that we couldn't handle, with good knowledgeable answers. That area was taken over by some people that may have seen a photo of a transmission once, so they came in and ruined everything. I got tired of the crap and left that area, since I don't really have the time to waste. People were starting to ask questions about the newer trans that I knew nothing about anyway, so I couldn't help them. Seemed like a good time to leave.

The autobody area was pretty enjoyable for a while. The know it alls showed up and decided to start arguements with everyone. They posted a lot of wrong information, and were determined to take over, pushing junk products and proceedures. This site has always been one that has kept out the BS. Although I have gone to a couple of other sites since this one started, they have not been clean like this one. I guess when you are only interested in how many "members" you can add up, the content of the site degrades.

One thing about this site is the professionalism. I know that I can post a question and I will get the correct information. If someone comes here and tries to give out wrong information, they will be corrected quickly. That will not be allowed to continue. That makes a big difference.

I no longer take things as personally as I used to. Time is too short for that anymore.

i think i'm done cause my give a damn is busted. i have one other site i go to and that's it. i'm getting older and just don't have the patients for it any more.

After my heart attack in Feb. I have determined that I don't have the time or energy for foolishness. I only expend my energy on things that I enjoy or absolutely need.

i closed my shop and moved to the lake because i was tired of the bs. then got tired of the hassle of living on the lake and moved here to the farm. i cant even see the road much less anyone else. life is good.

Aaron, you're on the right track.

I'm fortunate because I had my attitude adjustment 45 years ago. In September '65 I was rushing to get to work (mid-town Manhattan) and got to the station as the train was pulling away. Had to get to work that day (can't remember why) so I ran after the train and tried to board through an open door. I almost made it but ended up under the last three cars. A series of little miracles kept me alive. I thought losing an arm, hearing in one ear and permanent double-vision was the end of my life. My wife was the first one to see me in intensive care and all she said was "You're not getting out of painting the house this easy..."

I'm hosting my 9th Train Party next month. I have had one every five years to celebrate still being here. It's been a lot easier than I imagined in those first dark days but I think the lesson not to sweat the small stuff has helped a lot. The list of things I can't do is pretty short and I put the list away a long time ago. I have no real expertise but I have learned a few things. I share what I've learned but when some 'expert' gives me grief, I move on.

Life is no Disney World but I'm trying to use my E-tickets up first. This forum is one of them and the new park is simply amazing.

well damn , the owner of the spi vette is putting it up for sale. it's in the dallas autorama this weekend then it will be put in the auction coming up. going to miss seeing it . MACs0184.jpg

I couldn't afford to buy most of the cars I paint. Hell, I can't even afford one of my own paint jobs. No wonder I never get anything done on my own stuff.

Ha, ha that makes two of us for sure. I just ordered some white epoxy and clear for a horse trailer I am working on so I would have to buy base coat.

if not for good customers putting the money up i would not have built many of the cars. i enjoyed the builds and had the opportunity to build some really nice cars.
