Spraying Universal Clear first time overall

No worries on starting with 1000grt, I also think you will be just fine with the end results it cuts and buffs like butter compared to the majors clears.

As for reducing the UV protection from cutting and buffing, you will have no problem at all with it lasting. I did a rebuild on a 1ton Dodge (over a year ago) and it has been outside never waxed and washed twice and it looks just like the day I finished it, in fact it looks so nice the birds won't even shit on it ;).

You did a real nice job.

Thanks Barry. This actually was sprayed with a 1.3 so it may be part of why it was a little textured. I was worried with the supernova and a 1.4 that I would be holding a super soaker. Really the van turned out really well and the car just looks soaking wet. Nice thick clear.

Some and i say some 1.3's can cause a dry spray with this clear and some do great, example my Sata RP 2000 1.3 will not even spray the clear but the Iwata 1.3 lph does really good as does the 5000RP 1.3.
Next time you have just a bumper or fender, try the 1.4, lay wet coat and wait 10-15 minutes and do a second coat and call it a day and see what you think. I'm only going from feed back I get from shops that use a 1.3 and then for some reason have to use a 1.4 the next day.

Thanks Barry. I have a tekna prolite with a 1.4 and may give that gun a shot next time. I love it for single stage which is also thick so that may really do the job with this clear.

Demo a WS400 1.4, I think you'd be quite happy with it for the Universal.

Thanks Jorge. I actually used a ws400 just with a 1.3. Next time I'll give the 1.4 a try.

RE single stage, what a lot of people don't know is what single stage is, as I get calls from production painters and their shop may rarely do an allover and the the painter is all concerned because he has to do an allover single stage and I tell them, just pretend it s clear.

Lets make a single stage!
Take the clear formula and add to say to a 300 gallon batch 1-10 Lbs of a dispersion agent, amount vary's on color and type of agent used.
Than add your tint.
So as you can see all it is is clear, nothing to be concerned about, of course we are talking non-metallic's, then get real concerned. LOL
