Spraying base over bedliner

Would like to know if I can spray DBC base over bedliner? My plan is to spray SPI bedliner , wait a day and spray epoxy over the bedliner and then spray base over the epoxy. I understand I can tint the bedliner but that is not what this person wants. I think this subject was covered on the old forum but thats long gone.

Thanks, Jim

I'm not sure about spi bedliner, but I have bc/cc over another brand of bedliner with great results. I just used an adhesive promoter on the liner after scuffing it. It will scratch though. If its for a show car, it will be alright, that is what I did. You might need to call Barry to make sure. Good Luck

Thanks for the info. I'll just give Barry a call. My only concern is with the epoxy bonding to the bedliner. this is for the interior of a jeep

You might want to tint the bedliner to match your paint or at least get it close-this way wear and tear will show less. The bedliner is a urethane and I bet if you apply the BC the next day it will bite right in.

ive done it with other liners.. im sure spi is the same way.. last one i did was a house of kolor kbc apple red.. no way in hell u could match it or tint a liner to be close.. i do it wet on wet... sealed bare metal areas with epoxy.. shot liner.. let it flash.. shot base.. then cleared.. looked bitchen.

This is done everyday and for a good 15 years.
Spray one or two coats of epoxy, let set 1-2 hours or best overnight and spray the bed liner, next day spray the base or SS without sanding or cleaning the bed liner.

Tinting the bed liner, just use 8-12 Oz's of a good tint or the actual color code for the color, it will match just perfect.
Yes you can use pearl and metallic if that is what the color calls for, just leave out additional binders and flop controls.

So the bedliner is clear out of the box?
