I'm inclined to agree with Texas, but out of curiosity what steps did you take when wiping it down. What did you use to wipe down with and what did you use for wipes? Another possibility is silicone contamination in the air. Like someone using Armor-All nearby. I've even seen tires that have it on them contaminate nearby things.

As I look at this more, they are in spots, and normally minor vapors will collect in the air hose and shoot out, then spray well before collecting more and shooting out.

Please read attachement, wiped down with solvent wax and grease remover, and waterborne very well, basecoat laid down very nice. The desiccant beads on the wall were also still blue when I finish spraying the clear. They have since turned pink (ref pic)while I was doing some sanding.

You by any chance wearing gloves ?

Glove sweat is a killer dripping out in the heat of battle
If it came from your air source, now you know why I refuse to spray without a DeVilbiss Whirlwind air filter instead of a regulator on my guns or Anything used to Blow Air onto my Paint work Period. You never know even with the Best of Systems.

Barry is being nice Today Lizer, figured him for a Belfry joke at least.

No gloves , No sweat , it’s on every square inch of this automobile. Been painting off and on for 31 years, probably painted 50 cars , and many panels , doesn’t mean I know what I’m doing though . Never , ever had anything like this happen . Picture of a hood I painted last year .

Tack cloth was a new Upole , I believe I do have some Crystal.
I never press hard on cloth , very light pressure.

Is it possible the basecoat was still to wet after 12 hours . One mistake , used Very Slow reducer in basecoat, garage temp 68 .

What is your environment like? What is in the paint area? Open up that moto guard filter and just see what it looks like.

That's got to be either contaminants in the air supply or maybe something wrong in the paint itself.

Airborne contaminants in the booth will usually land on horizontal surfaces.

When using the very slow reducer, how long did you let it flash between coats?

New motorguard unit last month , new filter the day I applied color .
Flash time approximately 30 minutes between coats color , 12 hours before Clear applied.
0ne month ago painted wife’s accord rear bumper, same shop space ( minus heater) same, guns, clear, etc. Turned out very nice.

Well I guess I would try to paint something without that heater running. Leave everything else as is. Sucks, but its just gonna be the process of elimination.

I'd still drop that filter out and see how clean/wet it is.

Torpedo heater get used all the time. Unless it's running really rich (if it was you would know it) I can't see where that would be an issue.
What did you use to wipe the panel with? What did you use for a wipe? Did you use a dedicated paint prep wipe or something else?
Has there been any silicone contamination in your work area. Do you ever use armor all or other silicone containing products? Do you have neighbors nearby that could have been using some? Have you looked at the filter like OJ suggested?

How about this, did you use a new tack cloth before clearing or do you do like I do and just grab the one off the bench you used on the base and go to town?

Sorry I re-read your image and it says you already painted with no heater and had no issues.

If basecoat was too wet that would be giving you solvent pop, not fisheyes. If you said you tacked it well, my money is on the tacking. Was it a new tack rag by chance? My favorite tack rags are ones that are well-used. Not sure how you are tacking, but wad it up in a ball and just drag it across the panel. The only pressure of the rag on the panel should be its own weight. If you are folding it and wiping the panel down gently that way then you risk getting too much goo on the panel. I trust you probably already knew this given you've had really good results before.
