sherwin buys valspar

anyone else see this? sherwin bought valspar for about 11 billion. i really didnt think sherwin was big enough company to buy valspar but i guess so.

Mabey they combined their house paint funds and the auto together to aquire them. Unless a secret foreign investor assisted with it that later seems to be the norm lately.

Also heard last year they own Minwax, Coronado, & a few other companies these days. So maybe they're bigger than we thought.

This was planed long ago, that is why Valspar bought matrix and Prospray, so they could sell to S+ W, because Valspar them selves only had Debeers (R+D was not allowed to change when bought, smart) with anything of quality left in the lines but S & W wanted more.
If you can't grow, buy companies and that is what all the big boys are trying to do now with a vengeance.

I love it, this will be good for us as the market is getting very refined, companies selling private label garbage and as this shakes out "major's lower grade production paint" and then a few high quality ones.

Oh by the way S+W has plenty of money from industrial and house paint divisions, that is where they are big.

This really excites me!

Looks like I got out at just the right time, I bet they will keep the same distribution though as that gives them more avenues to distribute through.

I sure hope Motobase holds strong and doesn't sell out. As they get bigger I bet they will become more and more of a target. I wish these companies would hold strong and keep their own identity but it is what it is. It seems like we are gaining a good following with the Motobase and quicker than we did with Pro-Spray so hopefully they tough it out. They seem to be rather aggressive and it looks like they are wanting to go against the bigger lines and keep their own identity, I never really had that feeling from Pro-Spray. They always seemed to be like a puppet corporation.. But that's just my opinion and what I have seen from the reps.
