That is the first thing that came to mind; I remember those!I am getting old, cause I remember seeing a sign like that in a NAPA when I was young. Synthol Enamel was from the Devil. I hated that stuff.
Yep I'm right there with you, I remember that thermometer intimately. Shot a lot of MS Synthol Enamel on overalls, pure crap, hated MS Acrylic Enamel too. Used DuPont whenever I could. Synthol sealer on everything in the body shop. Shot Imron from the day it came out on tons of side gigs... planes, concrete trucks, boats, cars. Truly amazing coating, not the same now. Utech poly smells like Imron.I was there, all we had was lacquer, synthetic enamel, acrylic enamel and the "new" Imron.

Yea I guess I'm getting old.
They still sell it for guitars. I'm gonna paint one of my Telecasters a nitro bluei really mis the old days of nitrocellulose lacquer . it would cure down and buff like glass . some of the blackest black i ever saw . painting was so much simpler then . only thing was mapping. featherfil put an end to that .
Please don't just throw that stuff away if you have to get rid of it. All of that stuff will sell on Ebay really well. You'll make some money and that stuff will live on.I’m still sorting through all the old automotive stuff my step-dad (who died a little over a year ago) had from when he used to paint and play in the garage 50-60+ years ago. So much cool old stuff that’s tough to get rid of but also tough when you don’t have the room. (Old Binks guns, massive Champion spark plug cleaner, Elec Growler, etc, etc) Will have to post some pics when I get back to my shop... currently in TX making yet another run at sorting through what I haven’t already taken back to GA. I was up in Ohio this past summer helping my mom get his mother’s old house cleared out and sold. It had been sitting empty for nearly a decade after she died and my procrastinating step-dad hadn’t gotten around to it. Unfortunately I couldn’t bring home everything I would have liked to have kept, and had to leave it for the estate sale...
