I know I have asked you a while back and I wrote it down but I lost that and cant find original post for the life of me

what are your recommendations on the SATA 4000 RP with a 1.4 tip
to shoot Universal clear and ppg/prospray basecoat?

I'm not Barry, but I'll give you my take. I have a Sata RP 4000 with a 1.3 tip and shoot universal with it. I think that a lot of it comes down to personal preferences, and your style of spraying. I have used many guns from 1.2-2.5 and they all shoot a little different, it's just a matter of dialing it in for your needs.
 
Two adjustments.
#1 if there are more then 3 turns outs on fluid.
90% wide fan.
Fluid 2 turns out or up to 2.5 turns out.
28-34 air with trigger pulled for HS clear and 24-26 for a standard clear.

#2
If fluid adjustment only turns out around 3 turns then the above is same except the fluid adjustment is 1.5-2 turns out.

Base, turn fluid in 1/4 to 1/2, lower air to 20-24 with trigger pulled. (close setting as colors and bases are different)
