Problem with 3M Platinum

I have been using Marson now 3M Platinum for years with no problems but lately I have had a problem. I finish the bodywork and spray with epoxy primer and wherever there is filler there are a bunch of pin holes or solvent pop. It doesn't matter if I wait 3 hours or 3 days to prime same results. Doesn't matter if sprayed in the booth or in fab shop same results and the filler is not wiped with wax and grease remover. Most of it will sand out but it looks terrible right after spraying. Anybody else had any problems now that it's 3M.

I have noticed it is not as creamy as before. Used to be able to spread it out without any pinholes but now finding a second skim out being required.
Just sprayed some parts yesterday with 2k build primer but haven't looked at them yet.

Yeah, same here Rusty. It looks nice and smooth until that black epoxy goes on and then anywhere there is filler there is also pinholes. Where there is bare metal the epoxy is smooth. I clean the filler with SPI waterborne wax and grease remover and wait overnight before applying epoxy and I was thinking maybe that had something to do with it but now I think it is pinholes in the filler. (I also use the Marson/3M Platinum.)

I use Rage Ulta love how easy it sands BUT seams to have micro pin holes so most jobs will have to use a final glaze. Evercoat makes a product called Express 440 I think , to help this problem . Epoxy and 2K primer will help hide the problem but will sink in show later .........

First none of this is my business but as I told Rusty, for some reason in last year I have been getting a lot of calls on this subject, with a lot of different fillers, so something is changing here or there.

It's always been like that for me to a certain extent, not sure if it's worse lately or not. We'll usually put poly putty in the pinholes that remain after epoxy, block lightly then epoxy again, and all is well after that. It's been our SOP for many years.

Maybe the product is old. That has happened to me before. Might want to try a "gallon" from a different supplier and see if the same thing happens.

Years ago this was a major problem.
I remember when Baker was shipping all my stuff, the filler companies would come in with about a year supply buying requirements to get the best deal and filler was so price sensitive, the warehouses would do it.
