Problem spraying bedliner

I would like to share a problem I had while spraying the bedliner. I mixed up the bedliner just like the tech sheets say to and I was using the correct gun that SPI sells. When I went to shoot it the gun would sputter and some material would come out and then stop. I adjusted the nozzle in and out, adjusted the pressure and even thinned the bedliner some more but none of this helped. It wasn't until I slightly loosened the can from spray head that everything stared spraying like it should. Apparently the bleed hole in the gun is not large enough for the air being displaced.

Just that I would throw this out FYI.

Jim,
Thanks, never have heard of this before but I will check our guns in stock and take a look at those holes, Tuesday.
Thanks for heads up.

Another thing that will do what happened and had it happen many times, over the years, is if tube is cut to long and cutting off supply at bottom of cup.
A way around this is cut the end of plastic tube with a 45 deg angle, so even if hitting cup will pick up.

I never thought about the tube. It could have been the problem all along. By loosening up the cup it was extending the distance from spray head to the bottom of the cup. Will check this out.

Just checked out the tube and sure enough it is just a tad to long. Will cut it off like you said for the next job. Thanks for the heads up.

Trick is you want the tube touching bottom and then a nice angle cut, so you get every drop.
