Dug around and found some random older pics. Dad built the original two stall section back in the 70's and it's been added onto a few times since. Office is in between the two sides. There is one more stall plus the paint room around back. Behind the two stall section is a long storage room across the length of the back wall. The right side stall behind the camper is where we store and cut flat glass and polish the edges, along with the parts washer, blast cabinet, hydraulic press, and drill press.

This is more of how it looks now- Upgraded the lathe to a 12x36 from the old 12x24 and it's on a factory table that has a smaller footprint than the table the old lathe was on. Added a Bridgeport, bigger 36" band saw, and an Amermac tire truer in '21. Was able to buy some tooling and equipment from a closed down machine shop in '22 including a really neat 30x36" cast iron surface plate. I originally bought a lighter duty Tennsmith 16g 4' finger brake for $600, then a few months later spotted a much heavier Tennsmith 12g 4' finger brake on marketplace for $600. I sold the old brake for $1200 so I'm into the bigger one for free. Went in with a few friends and bought a Hunter tire machine in '22 and bought a balancer from a neighbor last year. Pretty happy now with the equipment we've been able to collect, still looking for a small/table top surface grinder since we don't have room for a normal sized grinder.

Here's mine. It's 30x50 and it's 13yrs old. Had it insulated last year. I have a 15x20 addition where i paint in. I dont have many if any specialty tools or metal shaping tools. I do a little bit of everything but don't do anything professionally

Here are the cars I've built, painted or did whatever I did to them. They all have something in common, hydraulics and wire wheels. There's about 20 more. Kind of have a problem. Lol

Some of you guys make me feel real stupid for working out of a 2 car garage.
dont be. i used to live in a house with a 1.5 car garage. i had a car in there, and the other half of garage i used to tinker with stuff, i was paying $125 to park a car in a storage facility walking distance away, and another $60 to park my car hauler at a storage lot down the road. $185 a month in storage. this was 15yrs ago. then we moved. and after we settled i got a loan to build my shop. the note on the loan was $225 a month. that was a no brainer to me, because the shop is bigger than my old house was. for less than $50 more a month than i was previously paying in storage fees. ive since paid that loan off. point of the story is , tinkering with cars has been good to me most of my life. just have to know the market and dont over-do the car to where its too personalized and no one wants to buy it. i think your paint room setup is better than what i got!

My first house had a small one car garage 15x25 that I painted out of for about 10 years. It was kinda cozy actually. Upgrading to a 25x25 garage made me feel like I had a 10,000 sqft shop! for a minute anyways...
