Oh ya, i'm liking this.

New heater piped into the booth, Nothing better than controlled heat right in the booth.

2.5 ton A-coil in it also.. Going to like having ac in the shop.. :)

used it for the first time this weekend, painted lift gate on toyota, gave it about a hour after painting and set the heat, it's going to work really good.

Air conditioning in a bodyshop???????

Next you will be sporting a white shirt and tie, while doing bodywork.

Lol.. Not so sure I will go that far..

I was laughing to myself as i was outside starting a fire in the woodburner. I have 2 gas heaters, the electric heater, and the woodburner.. I must not like to be cold either.. lol..

You can never have too much heat in a northern paint shop in winter. It is difficult for me to achieve surface temps in the booth over 60 degrees when it is below 20 outside, even with air temps in the 72 range. I need to get with my local HVAC guys to come up with more heat for the booth.

Care to post any more tech details on how your system is implemented?

Don't really know a whole lot about it, it's a 60,000 btu forced air electric furnace, has a A-coil installed in it for the ac. He will be putting the central air unit soon also.
I'm sure being electric it won't be the cheapest thing to run, but sure beats not having heat in the booth. I'm actually surprised at how much heat it puts out for what it is. Seems to work great for the booth so far, I can turn the heat down in the rest of the shop and come in in the morning and the booth is still 70.

Before I had to set the heat way up and set a house fan in the filter opening to circulate heat, and it was a struggle to keep the heat up. So i guess when you look at it that way, my heat bill will probably go down over all.

The A/C setup should be pretty efficient. I was planning on doing something next year, was going to get a 220 window unit but I think this will be much better than that.

As far as cost, have no idea, this guy works at a heating and cooling place, this one was damaged in shipping, had some sheet metal damage and they couldn't use it, so he brought it over in exchange for painting the jambs on his car. Eventually he is doing the whole car, but this will get him closer.

I should research what it is so i know where to get parts and such, but being new I should be good for a while.

So it blows only into the booth? Does it blow through filters? The thermostat, it is inside the booth as well? What about the exhaust, do you have something that closes it off when air is not flowing?

Sorry for all the questions, but I am seriously thinking of implementing a system very like what you have there! Winter is a difficult and expensive time of year here.

Yea, it blows only into the booth, but the ac will blow into the shop, that's not set up yet. It's in a different room, piped into the booth. I have nothing to close it off, no need for that. It just uses the regular furnace filters but I don't run it when i'm painting.

OK, I was thinking about the exhaust to the outside for the overspray. I have to cover mine after the fan is off, or cold air will blow in from the outside!

Thanks for answering all my questions. I think is is awesome that you have some nice heat in there. I'd really love to have a nice heated booth someday, maybe after I make my first million? :)

I was lucky enough to move into a shop that already had a heated booth and ac units in the shop, along with radiant heat in the shop (was previously a paint shop). I dont know what i'd do without the heated booth in the winter. The gas bill at the end of the month sucks but man its worth it. If i had to start from scratch and build a building and fit it out...a nice heated booth would definately be one of the top investments (even if it something like chad has done here). For me its kind of like NOT having a truck. You can go forever not having a truck, but once you have one you wonder how you ever survived without it. Couldn't imagine being without one.

Yea, i only painted a few little things in there and am already wondering how I went without.. Probably will think the same thing with the ac.. lol
