Need some advice on a new job adventure

So my friend is a very talented artist. He asked me if i would like to team up with him and paint items like car hoods, bike helmets, gas tanks and so on. The idea is for me to first strip/prep the items and lay down a basecoat of a background color. Next i would give my frient the item and he will airbrush any design the customer wants albeit skulls, flames etc. then i would get the item back and clear it.

So now he would get the item as soon as the base is cured enough to handle.

It would take him a few hours to maybe a day and a half to finish the airbrushing. Will i have adhesion problems on areas of base that dont get airbrushed when i apply the clear? We live a block from each other so we will be in very tight contact.

What are the steps we should take?
Like applying an intercoat clear
Thank you for any advice

recoat windows are all bs. my stuff doesnt happen in 24 hrs. sometimes i have worked on projects for weeks then just hang it in the booth and clear it. i have never in all my years had clear peel or chip off basecoat. base is the weak link and thats what chips off the primer. intercoat clear is just clear basecoat. if you would like to put it down then feel free. i will sometimes put it down if i have a light metallic base i need to mask or airbrush on so it gives me some protection if i need to wipe something off or sand off a dust nib, etc.

Exactly as Jim put it, we have known for years if a quality base is used and not exposed to the sun (stays inside) the base really has no re-coat time.
Most companies avoid saying this because there so are so many factors that are out of their control.

The few company's that now say unlimited re-coat time say if stays in booth. So good common sense is all that is needed.

Thank you guys. Now i know we will be safe on the larger projects that will take more time
