I was visiting friends/family in NY last week & had a hood to clear. Ordered UVC #4000 & extra slow activator before heading there but- no reducer. Picked up a qt of PPG DT870 strictly to clean/flush new gun.
Cutting out 2 days of fish-eye frustration, i'll type about experiment.
Poured UVC in small disposable plastic shot glasses & mixed 50/50 with water, alcohol, laq thinner x2, acetone, ppg.
Stir them and "see" some gel quick, other got milky (water mix), winner was quick strip acetone.
Did all this cause after flushing new gun with PPG, noticed decent size pot holes where we began painting hood & looked better as we got to other side.
Next coat I reduced the UVC a smidge for fun with PPG and DARN!!- fisheyed soon as I put down 1 pass. Stopped, cursed, yelled, soaked paper towel with ppg and wiped it off quick.
Next day father & I conducted the experiment & found Acetone to be our savour for flushing gun. Didn't attempt reducing UVC, came out great in 90F temp. Just had to light wetsand with 400 prior days coat. Love UVC Barry. Yes I know not to reduce UVC in most cases.
Home now, looked at gallon of UVC slow reducer & 1st ingredient...drum roll... Acetone.
BTW this was sprayed with a $15 (sale from $30) harbor f hvlp @ 35psi toy gun originally bought to spray chasis with oil. UVC makes me laugh heh. $15 spray gun.
Pics taken from ipod video, main reason for clearing hood was to fill areas that peeled. Gave it all 3 coats, no cut/buff, parks on street looks good enough for area.
Thanks SPI, my 1st post.
