Honestly I'm shocked that it is $971 gallon. I got a quote a couple of weeks ago from a guy local to me who sells AA. It was for Motobase, a red variant and it was $618 for a gallon.
I'm going to call him and get him to price it out. I'll report back with what he says

Yeah, I’m not saying it’s wrong but seems shockingly high. Most colors I get are for collision so are metallic, have pearls etc so if anything I should be getting hammered $$$. Speaking of I have a pearl white I need to place an order for, woohoo.

Thank you!!!

Just got off the phone with my guy in Collinsville VA. $877 per gallon for Chevy Hugger Orange code 72-3959. So Chad's price is probably right, I'm assuming it included shipping. If you have a AA Jobber near you you could get it for $877.
I'm very surprised that DBC was "only" a couple hundred more.
I would also try to get a quote in Wanda.
If you did go with a cheap base keep in mind that while the UV clear has a lot of UV protection a cheap base can still fade underneath the good clear.

Thank you very much!! I will see if I can find a local jobber

Reds ae genrally the most expensive toner and after looking up the formula for the Motobase Hugger Orange, it uses several red toners along with ornage and yellow. That would explain why it is more. First time I've encountered that with Motobase in my limited amount of experience using it. And I'm shocked that DBC wasn't higher considering anything DBC is min $1000/gallon now. Reds were always the most expensive color in DBC. SO who knows?
Donny I do think it's worth getting the Motobase even though it's more than you budgeted for. In the long run you will forget about the $200 and be happy with the car. Keep in mind too, Motobase covers real well and Omni and the like do not. So a gallon of Motobase is more like 1.5 gallons of Omni. Some of the real cheap stuff is so diluted it may take 2 gallons to equal the 1 gallon of Motobase.

yep, bright red, bright orange and bright yellow are all the most expensive toners in any line. if the color takes alot of any of them then your in for it
