Thx Dean/Chris. Makes sense. So if really no rust in there (I will verify), then I can avoid adhesion issues entirely not even recoating. If rust, then media blast and epoxy prime. Make sense?
Looks like great progress. Congrats! Finally have the shop set up and time to work on this MGB. As this is my first painting project I’ve decided to take one panel (trunk lid ) right through single stage color.
First step of removing paint went quickly with heat gun stripping followed by DA cleanup. Found minor surface rust and grinder scratches under an old repair. Metal under the factory paint and repaint looks good.
The run might take longer to dry since it's thicker than the rest of the primer. Stick it outside in the sun for a day. No use in rushing stuff if you don't have to.Almost done with soup to nuts process with trunk lid. Sprayed epoxy primer reduced 25% (First time doing that and with gun I haven’t used) and it went really well except for one small run. Was planning on spraying ss color this evening but that’s not possible now. Thinking of sanding only the run with 600 in morning if I can, tack rag and spray single stage.
Any thoughts?

Thanks AAE. Makes sense. At that point I will be out of the time window to put down base. Can I lay down another reduced cost? The run might take longer to dry since it's thicker than the rest of the primer. Stick it outside in the sun for a day. No use in rushing stuff if you don't have to.
Thanks Don: It did sand out nicely with 400grit just now. Now I am wondering if I tack and move on to single stage (dark green) or hit it with more reduced primer? Can't be sure, but I don't think I sanded through the sealer coat.I would try to lightly sand it before putting it in the sun. I have sanded 25% reduced base next day. Just need to go easy on it and change paper if it loads up.

Learning panel after sanding but before compound/polish/glaze. Wet sanded 1500. Damp sanded trizact 1500/2000/3000/8000.Learning panel in paint. No runs or dirt that I can see . Some orange peal because I didn’t check the gun pressure mid way and it was a little low. Now things can move along.

I think this is better for a beginner because I sand better than I buff.
