Kens Kruizer, 64 Impala

Oldtimer
Pretty deep resto on this one to, may not have to do much mechanical on it, the motor was rebuilt before it was parked 20yrs ago, got it running, runs really good, need to do compression check to know what we are going to do for sure.
Doing a lot of body repairs, it's been repaired before and is pretty rough.
With this car they make most of the panels so it's getting basically a complete body.

As you can see from the first pic, the quarters will need some modification to work on the car, they don't make convertible quarters, but much less work to make these work than to fix the old.

It is, and it all fits well together too. need to do a little work on top of door/fender line, and the hood will need some work to be flat, the braces are showing through a little with a few waves, but it's a big flat panel so what does one expect.

Ugly surprises. There's a lot of cars in this area that are like that or worse. Always good to see them saved though.

Chad, you've got a lot of irons in the fire. Do you rotate them as your customers keep up with the bills?

Ya, for the most part, between money, waiting for parts or other people involved, each ones different, just take it as it comes, With the customers I have and the time frames they want them done in, it really seems to be working out pretty good, another car or two and i'll be full in here though. Unless I move my projects out. And I surely don't want to do that. lol.

I love saving a car that you would think would otherwise be junked, I hate seeing old iron scrapped, Right now I'm doing this, the Buick, and the Packard that a good majority of the public wouldn't want to tackle.

I think the metal repairs on this car are going to get rather extensive before it's over with.
Here's a few pics of the wheel well mods for the convertible.

ya ryan did the wheel wells, working with a shrinker stretcher and a plannishing hammer. The disappointing part is what's underneath them, going to be a lot of time into panel repairs.

One of these times we won't need all the extra work.. I hope.

That will finish off nicely, rarely do you see repro wheel houses and quarters available for convertibles. A friend of mine started doing a 65 Impala convertible conversion out of a hardtop and midway through the cutting he realized the decklids are different lengths, quarters were different, and it was just a whole lot more work than he bargained for.
