How long before buffing euro clear?

Mixed 1:1:1 and sprayed two coats. Wanted to sand clear a bit with a lil 100 than some 1500 and buff. I understand this clear sets up quicker than the universal. How long must I wait before buffing? I understand the temp plays a role in all this. Overnight? Best to cut it open and let it set a few hours before buffing? Any advice is appreciated.
 
My own experience shows that Euro buffs best 36-72 hours after spraying, but it usually can be buffed the next morning if it has not been cold. The problem stating a rule for Euro is that it is infinitely customizable. With 3 hardeners, 3 reducers, polar, and variable amount of reducer, you can get Euro to kick off really fast, or even pretty slow if you want.

can you not do this with production and universal?
 
Most people don't reduce those, but you have a point.

My rule is to try and find an area that is covered, and push lightly with a clean finger. If a slightly indented fingerprint appears, the clear is still a bit fresh for buffing.

Of course, for resto work, waiting way beyond this point is desired, and Euro is not normally used.
 
A few more questions for clarification. I am going to be using the euro 5000 for the first time this coming week. I have medium activator and medium reducer, temps should be in the low to mid 70's when I spray (depending on how wrong the weather forecast is lol). I have been searching threads and reading, but I am still not sure which way I want to go with it. I was planning on 4:1:1, but I seen a thread where someone sprayed it 4:1 and it looked great, any suggestions? Also the gun I am using is a SATA RP 1.4, I have sprayed the UV with this gun and it turned out great. As for the buffing, would I be ok to spray one morning and then cut and buff the next? Or should I wait longer/shorter? I'm prety sure it won't be as forgiving as the UV, anyone have any suggestions on spraying? I am not new to paintinor SPI, just never used the Euro before. Thanks in advance

I used euro myself for the first time just about a week ago. I did wait 40 hours to buff here, because my building is a block building and stays a bit cool, but it buffed perfect. It looked just like Universal. Since I am in a block building I will add polar accelerator especially since winter is coming, but I will be buying more euro. I love it. I will also continue using universal, but keep it for more of the resto and overall jobs I do. What is so nice with the euro is you can play with it and see what works best for you. We all spray differently, so it's hard to say. I sprayed 4:1:1, and it looked pretty nice. I know you can go up to 4::1:3. I think for my next spray job I am going to try 4:1:2 and just see how I like it then. I like being able to adjust it for my liking. Also, consider how many panels you will be clearing. Either way you go, you can't go wrong with euro, as well as anything else from SPI.
 
I honestly think 4:1:1.25 to 4:1:1.5 is a great starting point. 4:1:1 a touch on the thick side, imo. I use 4:1:1.5 for everyday work, it is plenty thick at that ratio to be sanded and buffed.
 
Thanks for the replies. So if I go with 4:1:1 or 4:1:1.5 should I go 2 or 3 coats? I don't plan to cut and buff much, this is an 09 impala, so it has factory peel. I may not buff at all unless it needs to be nibbed a little here and there.
 
If you don't plan to buff, two coats should be fine. If buffing, I go three. You only need to remember this isn't one of those standard watered down clears, that spray like water.
 
OK thanks. sorry for all the questions, I've just never used this clear and I try not to bother Barry if I don't have to. I hope I don't have to buff it at all, but I will see how 2 coats looks and may go 3 if I need to thanks again

Never spray 4:1, it must be reduced.
The euro is made to buff next day as this is a clear we made for the production bodyshops but like any clear, 2-3 days of setting does not hurt and will help sometimes.
The feed back I get is it does buff out good up to 2 weeks, I have never tried it but have had a number of shops tell me this.

I have been buffing some Euro out that is 4 weeks old.
Been doing one panel at a time on my own car.
Got interrupted with other work again and won't get back to
continue for at least another week or two.
It seems to be fine. I'm pretty sure it's cured now(LOL)
 
Well I must say I have found a new favorite clear for production work. The Euro 5000 is absolutely amazing (not that most of you don't already know that). I got a little bit of peel in it, but I was taking it easy trying to get a feel for it. Next time I know what to expect and should be able to lay it out nice. The only problem I have with it, is that I will have to buff the rest of the car now, because what I painted has more gloss and less peel than the factory paint. I painted the rear quarter and blended the base onto the rear door and bumper. I am very happy with the results for the first try of this clear. Thanks to everyone again for the information.

Again guys, I can't say enough about this clear. I buffed it today roughly 20 hours after I finished spraying and it buffed almost as good as the UV. Thanks again to everyone for the information.
