This is an early 1970s Honda Super Cub 50 that I am doing. Sometimes, I get bad ideas and have to follow it through to the end anyways. This is one of those bad ideas. "Restoring" a Cub is kind of a bad joke in and of itself, given the millions and millions of them Honda produced since the 1950s.
This one was dumped at a friend's house, where it sat for over 10 years.
I got it for free. Of course it needed a number of parts replaced before it could run and drive, and you can only get most of them off eBay from Thailand. 6 volt electrical system with 1 fuse for the whole thing, kick start only, 3 speed manual transmission with centrifugal clutch, 49cc 4 stroke overhead cam engine! The timing chain is smaller than a bicycle chain. I hesitate to say old school, more like "just plain old."
Got most of it painted yesterday. This is Mazda 36a "Spirited Green Metallic" that Chad mixed up for me in Pro Spray base. I cleared it with Barry's Euro Clear mixed 4-1-1.5, and sprayed with an Iwata Lph400 1.3. I used the purple cap for the base, and the silver cap for the clear. Clear came it really well for me. There are a couple runs, but nothing major. I may have had the pressure up a little high (14psi) for the base, judging by how much green got everywhere.
Still got to paint the engine covers silver, and finish a few of the other small parts up.
