Epoxy and WGR help

I have both waterborne and solvent based WGR, just not SPI brand. The tech sheet says specifically to use SPI. Is there a particular reason? Will I risk adhesion?
 
If not spi skip the waterborne as the PPG and Dupont ones have caused adhesion problems.
Just clean 2 or 3 times with the solvent one you have, unless its a finale wipe type and then its useless.
 
You'd be doing yourself a big favor by getting a gallon of SPI Waterborne #700 if you are cleaning bare metal for epoxy application. It gets metal cleaner than anything else we've ever used, so strange but we can clean with solvent base, then go back over with #700, and more stuff can be seen on the wipes!
