Epoxy and fuel...?

Learnin'
I just purchased a new fuel tank for my project pickup, and was curious how well epoxy stand up to fuel, both fumes and direct contact. Is it possible to line the inside of the tank by pouring some in and rotating it every 15 until it's coated, or should I use a fuel tank lining product? Also, will it hold up to occasional spill on the outside? I believe the tank is galvanized steel...any special prep?

It CAN work but it is not the best product to use for this, as they make tank sealers for that purpose.

We have diesel truck companies that use it as a liner in there big tanks and personally I have used it in a cycle tank years ago but it COULD be risky, if everything is not perfect.

Sounds good, I can get tank sealer through my shop. I will still probably coat the outside in epoxy, no issues with that I'm assuming? Also, any special prep for galvanized?

I had to run a supply and return of 1/2" fuel line on my car. I brushed two coats of epoxy on them before installation and let them sit for a few days. I found where I had a small leak around around one of the fittings the epoxy got a little soft, but it never turned loose of the metal.

diesel i see no issues. gas these days with the ethanol probably not. epoxy tank sealer is what you want. its a different type of epoxy..novalac. dont use the 1k sealers like kreem or the stuff from por.
