Does epoxy primer contain acid?

I've seen it mentioned a couple of times that epoxy primer has a small amount of acid in it as well as a friend mentioning using an epoxy that had acid in it. It sounds strange, but it'd be nice to know if it's true or not and set the record straight.

Any product with acid will be in glass or plastic containers, like acid etch primers.
Our epoxy comes in metal cans.
That's a good point. It sounded strange, but I wanted to make sure I knew what I was talking about before saying anything. Out of curiousity, do you know of any epoxies that do have acid in them?

Acid in epoxy is just another BS myth that gets passed around on the Internet. I am not a Chemist but it has always been my understanding that acids and epoxies don't mesh. I guess you could check the various SDS's of Epoxy manufacturers and find out. Or use a PH test and see if a particular epoxy is acidic. Why you would want to do that I have no idea.

Here is the MSDS for DP40LF.:https://buyat.ppg.com/ehsdocumentma...=5e1f451b787b23e50000&id=5e1f451b787c258b0001
As you can see in the ingerdients it contains limestone which is actually a base. Barium sulfate is also used and it is acidic but what matters is the PH of the material. Even if an acidic product is used that does not mean it contains acid. The PH level is the only thing that matters in this discussion.

But like I said none of this matters to us, the end users. You've found the best epoxy out there, SPI. That's the only thing that matters.:)
