Custom '67 Mustang convertible

Here are a few photos of a Mustang that has been in my shop for the last two years. SPI epoxy, 2K, and Universal clear. It is about 98% finished, but the customer wanted to bring it to the Northwest Motor fest this last weekend.

The car has the complete drive train, dash, A/C, stereo, wiring and electronics from the 2006 car. Even the ’06 wiper motor runs the wipers with all the modern functions. The rear of the car is built to look like a ’69 fastback Mustang, and we used ’67 fastback quarter panels to help balance the rear tires (they are a 1.5” higher than the convertible quarters) and even makes the top look like it has a slight chop. The front of the hood has been extended 3” and the grill surround and hood scoop is custom built in steel. The body is mounted on a modifeid Art Morrison Max-G chassis. Many subtle details for someone with a sharp eye to see. Most folks think it’s a stock mustang with wheels and a nice color, but the car guys come back to look at it many times.
It has been a very interesting build, and I will add some build photos soon.-- Scott-- Motorfest 7,2012_336.jpg

Hello Crash, The owner lives in Boise....you can check it out if you like. Let me know.

So how close is the hinge pillar width between the '67 and the '06? You make it look like it just fell in there lol, obviously that is not the case. If you have time it would be cool to hear more detail about how you got that metal to work together. It's a nice display of engineering skills!

The 2006 dash is a little more than an inch too wide for the '67. Everything needed to trimmed, including the inner part of the doors. Getting the correct height and setback took a bit of shuffling things around for best fit. If you look, the '06 wiper motor drives the wipers with a very custom wiper linkage arrangement. The interior is getting finnished up and I have a few more things to do to the car. I'll have some interior photos next week. ScottDSC_0542.jpg

It's quite an accomplishment to keep such extensive mods looking so subtle, very nice job. Impressive.

Thank you for the kind words guys. It means alot to have others that KNOW what it takes to make it look "factory"

I learned a lot on this project, and was able to buy some tools along the way. Now I know why the guys on TV start with such nice cars....I makes it much easier!

P.S.
I was trying to load some photos, but they are too large for the system to take. Any ideas how to make them smaller?

If you want to keep it simple, try something like this:

http://imageresizer.codeplex.com/

Though the program should by default leave your originals alone, make copies of the pics before you try it so you don't accidentally lose the resolution and detail of your originals, just in case.

It's obvious a lot of time was spent on the details, like the gap lines around the bumper. Love the look of the front grill openings.

Thank you for the nice compliments everyone. It is nice to share ones project with people that understand this type of creativity that we all enjoy.

I up-loaded a few more photos.

Crash, I think paint will let me resize the photos too. Thanks for the info!DSCN0055.jpg

Very very cool! There's a lot of hours in that project not to mention planning and mockups, very nice work!

Bob, Thank you for the very nice compliment.

The upholstrey shop had to finish some things, and it came back to me to finish my list.

Here are a few photos of the interior.
