Copied from hotrodders.com:

"However, Some paints aren't recommended to be applied over epoxy primer by the respective manufacturer of the paint. Therefore, you're taking a risk by not checking the paint manufacturers tech sheet. Just because the epoxy manufacturer makes a recommendation doesn't mean it will work for all paints. That's the main reason I don't use or recommend it as such and advise others to exercise caution when doing so.

Doe's that explaination clarify it for you? "

in my limited experiance i have not came across any bc or ss that stated this, nor any primer.

Whats the real deal ?

Na, ive done that too. The shudders on my house are latx over epoxy...it holds up great

I was just reading the comedy that passes for good information. And paint is not the only topic there that is way out in left field!

I'm sure there is some type of paint that will not stick, I just don't know what.

House paint, works great.
Lacquer, works great
Oil base, works great.
All base-coats, of course.

In all fairness, you must remember, tech sheets are written for production work and companies are very paranoid when competing for a large shop, of anything in the tech sheet that says wait an extra five minutes, so they may not recommend epoxy, not that it won't work but because it would slow down production.

Remember this, some one sent me a post with a comment, "you would think SPI would make their epoxy faster, by now"

No thank you, yes I can in about 5 minutes BUT I want my epoxy to stick to metal better then anything.
NOW, with that said, I tell production shops all day long, if your turning out 10 spot jobs a day, the PPG is the fastest sealer to paint over as that is what it is made for.

Their catering to one part of the market and I'm catering to the Restoration part, two different worlds.

I used to go to hotrodders a lot when I got back into this 6 years ago. One good thing I can say about that forum is that is where I found Barry and SPI.

if your working on junk, lazy as hell , a tightwad that could care less what your pile looks like then that is an ok site to get info. first step is to buy some hide it and cover everything with it then after a while haul it to the scrap yard. anybody who uses that stuff their next car should have 4 coats of undercoating on it. can you imagine getting a car 20 years from now covered in that stuff.

if your working on junk - okay it is a rusty old ford

lazy as hell - yup, been known to watch others all day and not feel guilty

a tightwad - you been talking to my wife

DAM, at first I thought you were talking about me!

Not really the best place for any type of advise on cars. Used to be pretty good, then it took a serious turn for the garbage. I was lucky enough to meet a few of the guys there. Someone posting not to use the stuff is almost good enough for me to use it. LOL
