Suppose to be just a repaint, but as usual the owner says it was redone when he bought it. Looks like another good salesman has struck again because now i got to redo what was suppose to have bein done the first time. I guess its good for business for me, I just hate it when someone shafts someone.

Cool project, the instability of wood is always a challenge! I never realized the amount of steel and fiberglass that is used on those.

now thats cool. i would rather restore one of those than a car any day. i love old stuff or even stuff thats not real old but just looks like it. awesome!

I worked with my grandfather from the time i could walk until i was in my 20s. I guess it got in my blood, alot of people want stuff worked on or new ones, they just don't want to pay much. Most don't understand the time it takes to restore one.If i could not be so picky and not try to get everything so perfect i might could make more, but thats not how i was taught. I just order spi black epoxy and ss black for it. my grand father use to use oil base porch and floor enamel for primer and synthetic enamel paint, i'm sure glad they got alot better stuff to paint with now that stuff was kinda tuff for me to get right but he could make it look like a car.

I had to order some things from pennsylvannia so i guess while i'm waiting i'll have plenty of time to sand, prime, fill, sand, prime and over and over:D

Sanded with 240 then 1 coat spi epoxy. Let dry 2 days and Filled with metal bite filler and sanded with 240 then sprayed 2 coats of epoxy. First time using water base cleaner and the difference in it and solvent cleaner is night and day.SAM_1968 (640x480).jpg

I would have never thought there would be that much work on one of those, looks more complicated then a car! Nice job!

More filler and sanding almost ready for last 2 coats of primer. I forgot how much sanding their was just in the wheels but after filling 64 spokes twice and sanding four times I don't think i'll forget again .:)SAM_2516 (640x480).jpg

Probably not but my grandfather taught me to always give a 110% because if anyone could do it why would they be paying you! And that's one of my biggest down falls I try to do things too perfect, if I don't do a job better than the customer wants then I feel that I failed and I don't fail too often. That's why I started using spi products the other paint products I was using didn't live up to my expectations I just wish I had tried them sooner.

Sounds like the BandWagon is going to need some overload springs with all the new Band members

That's the only common disappointment when people switch to SPI- they wish they would have tried them sooner!

very cool! SPI products get used on a lot of things besides automotive. My Dad dropped off two birdseye maple end tables he just made and they'll get a few rounds of UV clear.
