68 el Camino Resto-Mod

I had posted earlier about the custom console I was fabricating. To recap, I cut off the front half of the 1968 reproduction console and then blended it with the back half of a 2014 Infinity Q60 console to get the best of both worlds (cup holders, storage with USB, but with classic front look.)

Just got it back from Mike of MLW Upholstery and it came out great! Got it installed and couldn't be happier.
Nice, custom leather wrapped console. One of a kind.

I wasn't happy with the door jambs. They had some dry spray and got scratched up during re-assembly, so repainting them has been on my punch list.
Masking them off proved to take more time than I expected. About eight hours.
Filled the scratches with Dolphin glaze, then scuffed all well.
Shot reduced epoxy over the Dolphin glaze, then 2 coats of base and 2 coats of Universal clear.
Much better!

How does one do the transition from the repainted area to the rest of the car. Is there a tape
Yes, there is a line. Where possible I placed it in a seam, like where the door skin edge is. Where there wasn't a seam, I put it just inside the jamb where it won't be seen when the door is closed. Even with the door open, the line is not visible but you can feel it. Once the clear has fully cured, I'll use some ~2000 grit to smooth it and then hit it carefully with a mini buffer pad.
Maybe not the best practice for a daily driver that will be outside a lot, but this is a "garage queen," with limited exposure to the elements.
