A great looking low mileage car. Same owner for 30 years. Here is what I found when we first jacked her up...

So... looking for a back half. Solid as a rock from transmission crossmember forward...

I think Shine know someone that makes these frames?? that would be the trick if he would make a half frame.

billy dawson makes frames but they are for restomods with c4 suspension . he might have a used one i dont know. looks like old fool's link would be better .

Thanks, SOF...I have tried Tracey several times. They apparently have enough demand. I have yet to receive a return phone call.

I would be happy with a new or used back half.

Do you have a contact for Billy Dawson, shine?

If I cant find a decent back half, I will probably resto mod, C5,C6 style

Be careful, some of those companies alter later model frames and you can see where they hacked off the extra mounts and welded in the different front horns. I had to return one to corvette central a few years ago. It was a 5000,00 and i ended up losing over 1,000 on transport, but there was no way i was keeping the hacked up frame they sent.

I am also looking for a frame. i have a bent one a 65 I'm working on. I found this site http://www.colliertechnologies.com/ and the frames look pretty good. the price is not orrect online... i called to buy one for listed price of 4k and they siad it's $6700... with that said, they are in the process of moving the company from Canada to Kentucky so i'm not sure on the availability. I have found that most places are taking 70's model corvette front frames and welding the midyear backends on them; they say the only difference is the backend.... there is all i know after months of research.... hope it helps.

GJS,
If you just want that 24" section, Corvette Central sells them but I'm sure they get them from another source. The source might be Vette Products of Michigan because their price is a bit lower. Here's their home page:
http://www.vetteproducts.net/

Their online catalog lists the frame sections and alignment plates for $125 per side.

Paul,
Might want to check out Vette Products of Michigan (links in my previous post) since they build complete frames as well as sell parts. Might be an old fashioned company that sells to the big Corvette sites as they don't even list an 800 number.

In your research, did you come across the 1971 Corvette Registry article: "Corvette Frame Changes 1963 to 1982." Seems like a pretty definitive description of the differences:
http://www.71corvette.com/frames.html

Hey Bob, thanks a bunch for the link. That frame is a lot cheaper then Collier. plus it burns me up when someone post a price of $3995 for a frame and when you call them it cost $6750.... I will call and get more info on the frame from Vett Products. have you seen one in person?
The info i got about how they are takeing 70's frames and welding the rear section of a good midyear frame to it came when I found a frame from a vette dealer in California. I called and he told me that's how they do it. for the life of me i can't remember the name of the place.

Paul, I hear ya! I already suffer sticker shock on everything I buy for the car. The TCI Streetfighter TH400 I bought for my Corvette in 1986 was $487.20 (plus shipping). Today's price is $1,401.24 (free shipping).

I haven't seen anybody's frames in person. Vette Products has been doing this kind of work for 21 years, which would be impressive if I didn't have grandchildren that old. 'In business near Detroit since 1992' doesn't inspire as much confidence these days but I like to give the benefit of the doubt so maybe these guys are worth a phone call.

That frame morphing C3s into C2s is a bit scary since body mounts changed a bunch of times, as did the welded-in front crossmember. That would be a nightmare when you get all done and think you're going to get a gold rating at Bloomington.

Prices are crazy these days! I hope it's not like the free shipping from Summit, then they charge you some bs handling fee... just call it shipping..

I'm going to give then a call today about the frame. I’m not too worried about judging. I’m going to drive my car! haha

Prices are out of this world for all muscle cars, me thinks. Parts for the fury have been harder to find than for the '63 vette.

I bought a great replacement frame for the '72 2 years ago for 900.00.
