So what is the take on different colors of 3M Masking Tape? I have always used the blue for automotive masking and paint. When I walk into an auto paint store, all I see is green. Im thinking there is a reason for that?

Amazon has a 16-pack for $19.00 ($10.30 + $8.70 shipping). That's about $1.19 a roll.Jorge M.;n75570 said:Its 3M part 06526, I'm curious what prices you guys can get on your neck of the woods.
I didn't even know about that stuff. We never get reps out here in the sticks, which is mostly a good thing, haha. I wonder if that would be good for masking off the unpainted parts of new bumper covers.Jim C;n75535 said:yeah i like yellow myself. green is ok for certain things where i need to make tighter curves because it doesnt tear as easy and the paper stretches a little more. the blue isnt for automotive use. that for waterbase latex house paints. the adhesive doesnt resist the solvents in the basecoat and it CAN leave adhesive behind. there is another tape 3m makes between the yeallow and green price wise but its different all together. the precision masking tape. anyone here try it? i put the link below. i had a little bit on a roll and it was really bad ass but i need to use more before i make judgement. the stuff is ultra thin and leaves as sharp or sharper mask likes than the 3m green fineline. it reminds me of the material they make the tags from on your mattress. it has some type of fiber in it. crazy stuff.
