Hey guys i bought a glass custom hood for my truck.got it in last week and its in need of a lot of filler work(Major lows and highs all over)what is the best filler for me to use? i have seen over the years that shine likes the evercoat 870... my major concern is shrinking!! i will have a lot of time in this hood and i want it to stay slick as possible, thanks for any help or advice.Travis

Normally most will put a couple coats of epoxy and then next day apply filler or glaze as needed, the epoxy is important to act as a flexible barrier between the glass and filler due to expansion.
Of course you could just use the 870 and i personally have used way to many gallons of this over the years, expensive but good and shrinkage will not be an issue with this product and the same with filler over epoxy.

thank you Barry! so would it still be best to lay down some epoxy then the 870?hope all is,Travis

you had better either bake that hood or wait and let it sit outside and cook in the summer sun for a week to post cure before you do anything. its pretty much guaranteed that the mfg didnt do it so you will end up doing all this bodywork getting it nice and flat then a few days in the sun the whole thing is going to move and get wavy.

I have done it both ways on vettes, never had an issue either way.
Normal filler always over epoxy on glass to be safe.

Jim C they even sent instructions on baking the hood @ 150 for 3 hours prior to working it... also sent instructions on how to do body work on the hood as well, lol!!! i knew i bought some good product after that.i sent them a e-mail containing some choice words and describing their junk product.never herd back.i even left a message to the place.hood was imo expensive(900.00 shipped)for it to be so freaking wavy!!!!

thanks guys for the solid advice as usual.i am going sit it in the sun for a few weeks if it ever quits raining!Travis

Don't forget that after your done doing the work set it out in the sun again before you paint to cook the filler it will also move.
