Recently picked up an 03 cobra (sonic blue) and the paint on the hood has several large (2-3”) blisters where the paint has come off and the gel coat is showing. The prior owner said it has been their way for years he owned the car. Do I need to take the entire hood down to the gel coat or just feather out the problem areas? Also, I’m guessing I need to shoot epoxy over the entire hood prior to base? The reason I’m asking is I’ve heard some people say go straight to base if the gel coat was not broken through but that doesn’t seem correct. Thanks for any advice.
