I have gotten lots of good advice from this forum and thought I would put some pictures of my TA on. This is my first total paint job previous cars i just did jambs, underhood etc. I decieded that it was time to take the leap and do it all myself. I'm changing the car from white to black and am painting it piece by piece at home . hope my neighbors dont mind. I am using Spi epoxy,2k and uv clear and diamont base. Hopefully I can get it done by spring.
Let me know what you think 100_3051.jpg

Looks freakin awesome bro. Looking forward to seeing it all put together

Looks like you're doing a fine job! Rebuild those door hinges so they are tight as they were a weak link on that design with the long heavy doors. The last one I did I modified the hinges so they had a grease tube with a grease fitting-this way any abrasive dirt could be pushed out with new grease to keep the bushings from wearing. These cars also flex a lot without frame connectors and this causes hinge wear. Take a good look where the trunk lid hinges are welded on-there's often stress cracks in this area that need welding.

Thanks for the kind words. Bob I know what you mean about the doors, they are very heavy. I already rebuilt the passanger side and am in the process of doing the driver side. Allready have the sub frame conncetors also. This car is geting a 461Cu. Pontiac stroker motor so connectors were a must have. Also allready replaced the body mounts with aluminum ones as per recomendation from subframe connector manufacturer. More pictures to come.

Since I am doing this car like a bandit I figured I spray a wheel and the grills with the gold to see how it will look. Stripping the wheels was a major pain and very time consuming. So was taping them out. On both items I used Spi epoxy and UV clear. I have a few areas on the grills to touch up the black where the tape didnt stick but I am happy with the results.102_3252.jpg

Lookin good! Where are you located in Jax? I live in Arlington area.

Joe right down the road. Beach and kernan, I work at the toyota dealership on atlantic.

got all the wheels finished last nite. Not a job I want to do anytime in the near future. Rally II's are way easier to sand and tape out.tawheels.jpg

Well, I got to fire the motor up on the stand and do the initial break in. We will dyno it the 1st or 2nd week of december and see what kind of #'s it puts out.100_3291.jpg

Got the engine dynoed and it made 428 hp and 507 ft lbs torque. This was with iron heads, untouched stock intake and stock hei. should be a handfull in the TA with 3.42 gears. The TH350 is also redone and beefed up to handle the extra power, also got a continetal 13" converter to replace the tired factory one.

Should be a handful, is putting it Mildly!!! Love that torque number.

Looking great!

I'm an Olds guy, but Pontiacs are very cool in my book, if I ever switched that's where I would go. Guess I only like obsolete makes...
