Some of you may remember this project from the old forum.
Just doing a little metal work at a time.
It left for a while and now we are back it it for some more panel replacement.

Here are some pics of what we did last time it was in.

I actually spent a good part of my day welding on it, the frame rail is welded in, most of the trunk floor, and I have the whole floor welded in minus one seat tray and the front of the floor.

Lol.. that would be a lot of bondo sanding.. lol..

We just got hit with snow again.. about a foot.. I've had my fill already..

No snow but the high today was 48 and tomorrow morning it will be in the 20's. I thought I lived in Florida!

lookin good!

Did you separate the seat tray from the piece under it that the frame bolt threads into? we just put the same floor in the 68 in the shop and realized that the placement of the subframe mount brace/bracket is in a different location than the original. took the seat brace off with it still attactched to the subframe mount. Took the brace off the new floor and put the original in. It was off quite a bit from the seatbrace. marked the placement of the seatbrace on the inner rocker to make sure it was in the same location. Just curious if you ran into the same problem? Maybe was just the floor that i got.

I'll tell you what though, that is about the nicest full floor we've put in. Was almaost amazed that it just kinda fell right into place..used to workin on the mopar junk.

Hey watch it, i'm a mopar fan.. lol..

I marked it to the inner rocker also. the drivers side was a little off, but not much, had to roll it back just a little bit, the passenger side was better.
Other than that it all went together really good.
All of the other parts seemed to fit really good also.

I think Jeremy was referring to the quality of replacement panels available for MOPARS. I have not used AMD other than for the Buick but Goodmark either has worn out dies or lousy quality control - maybe both.
I ordered right and left quarter panels for the Coronet and the side marker holes were off by 1 1/2 on one side and almost 3" on the other. The body lines were not well defined and they were supposed to be centered on the side marker holes. One was but the other was off 1/4".
The Goodmark floor pans for the buick were terrible with the center seam matching fine for about 2/3 of it and then drifting off almost 7/8" from there. For all the complaints about factory quality control in the 60s it sure seems the repo places can't even match that.

was refering to the sheetmetal! lol i'm a mopar fan also. AMD isn't much better than the goodmark. Put goodmark full quarters on a 70 cuda...fit like junk. Did a 68 roadrunner both full quarters from AMD, same scenario. We all know it isn't supposed to fit right up but dang...working on GM repro sheetmetal spoils you. They all have their issues....but atleast a lot of mopar metal is available now...wasn't so 6-7 years ago.

I do have to say after working on the packard, I am very thankful when panels are available, but i know what your saying, did a set of quarters for a charger a while ago and they did not fit good by any means.

Waiting on parts, maybe time for a vacation, oh wait,, I have like 4 other projects I need to be working on... lol.

In the mean time, here's some pics.

Chad, if you need clearance for an HEI distributor now is the time to make some firewall mods.

Good thinking!!!!

I know he's been talking about putting a LS1 in it though.. But I don't think he knows for sure.. I better ask.

The fellow that owned GOODMARK sold out about a year and half ago,,,but he has started a new company stamping sheet metal,,i dont remember the name right off, but i hear its better than goodmark now and that goodmark is not the same qaulity it was before being sold. Dynamark is another company that makes this stuff and the last i knew of they were the only ones making the full floor pan for Camaros and Novas, also the only ones making the cowl and firewall .

So far everything I have purchased for it has been goodmark.. It's convenient as i'm a goodmark dealer. But who knows where they are getting everything from.
