Sorry if the answer is obvious, but how are you doing the paint? What is intercoat clear? Is it BC of white, intercoat clear, base coat blue, then going to get universal clear?

Intercoat allows masking for the stripes that wont leave marks that will show through the final clear.


This is going to be a beautiful car, love it!

3m blue 1/4" tape

It has been awhile since I posted so it is time to catch up.

Brian has the front fenders installed

Deck lid taped off and ready for blue along with the rear valance

Three coats of Guardsman blue

Removed the tape and clean a little and spray three coats of SPI Universal clear

Getting ready to lay out the stripes

Stripes on the hood, grille panel, stone guard and front valance

Clear

Everything wet sanded, buffed and lined up

As a 65 Fatback owner, these pictures make me tingle all over, and are motivating me to get back in the garage today!

Nice work Rusty and crew. we just finished a partial restoration and respray on a 65 fastback in Wimbeldon white with Guardsman Blue stripes. It is the third one we have done with the stripes and they are a pain to lay out and mask using the original measurements, but it sure makes for a beautiful car when finished. Until we painted them for the first time, I never realized the stripes narrowed in the front and rear.
