I heard you could strip a 'vette with a razor. Is that lacquer-primer ?

yep. lacquer paint also. was "restored" 20+ years ago. Very nice car though, still has all the production line numbers on the body.

Will get some detailed pics in a few days. Almost have it all stripped.

VERY nice indeed. Some might wonder why the bonding seams are left untouched. The owner is one of those "purists", kind of, and actually wants to see those lines...like original. He's against molesting the damage free body. To each his own, i'm here to please the customer!

If it were mine, I would do it...but it isn't.

Very nice! What is the blue mist? Some type of guide coat?

Looking forward to following this one.

Just sprayed the last application of epoxy. still have to do doors hood, and other smaller parts and ready to wetsand and paint. hopefully next week!

Epoxy only on this thing...

Yes. I have helper and up until this week had another employee. He just retired this year after doing this work since he was 16.

That car will never have to be stripped again. There isn't a better way of doing it IMO. Are you going to use Wanda? Lesinol? Sikkens?

Some under body pictures. As far as I can tell it is unmolested. Needs a good washing. Really is one of the nicest vettes I've worked on.

I'd take some good photos of how that original underside looks-I'd bet the folks on the vette forums would like to get a peak of that! Very nice! Very nice car! Did the irregularities in the bondlines survive the priming and sanding? Sometimes it's tougher to save defects than it is to remove them.

Has that been media blasted and if so what was used? It looks fantastic.

Looks like someone put a floor jack where it shouldn't have been :(

Well...paint fumes must be getting to me....i used slicksand for the first round of primer so in fact it isn't 100% epoxy only. Don't know what I was thinkin...

Spent all day today dialing in the color...mixing, sprayouts.....in and out of the sun. There is 1 area in the window channel that still has original paint on it (kept it taped up). Pulled the color sikkens/wanda calls for and is nowhere close, which is sort of disappointing with akzo. It isn't a wanda thing, as the sprayout I did matched the sikkens color book within reason.

Ended up having to go to another swatch, switch some metallic around and cut half of the metallic out of the formula. I'm sure someone out there will say its wrong!

Looking great jeremy. Is the color on that car goodwood green? We have a 67 at shop I painted recently that we had to tweak the color on that car as well. Luckly we had the hardtop to car that still had the original lacquer paint on it and I was able match up to that. keep up the great work. Joe
