Wool and foam compounding pads

How many of you use both pads on a job before you polish?

I use both but I'm ready to switch to all foam, I think the wool cuts nice and fast but it also can leave some texture in the surface.

Yeah I use wool and I know that texture your talkig about, it's very faint and 90% of people that look at it won't notice it but we know it's there. Does that have something to do with heat maybe? So do you start with wool then foam compound? Or just one or the other?

Now I use twisted wool for step 1, wool blend for step 2, and fine foam for step 3. If the area is small, I skip step 1.

You use 3m pads? My local jobber had a promo going on with their new quick disconnect double sided pads. It was time for new ones so I went with it.

No, I use Presta double-sided with a quick disconnect. It wouldn't surprise me if 3M copied Presta's idea though.

Just looked it up, it appears to be a modification of the Presta design. Kinda wondering if they are interchangeable, knowing 3M, probably not.

Looks like I will have to add a foam compounding pad to my colection. I assume you are using presta compounds to?
