Why no PSA paper in 600-2500 grits?

I posted this in one of the threads but I thought I start it's own thread. I'm a relative newb, but it escapes me why PSA paper is not readily available in higher grits. Taking larger sheets and cutting them up not only wastes paper, but it doesn't stay as secure as I'd like. Is it becuase it won't stick when wet maybe?
 
I have 1500 grit PSA waterproof board paper on a roll that I got from Eastwood, made by Klingspor. I've used it once so far and it seems to work good.
 
you can get it. 3m makes it in finishing film discs but for roll paper i dont think its avail. reason being is psa paper clogs easier and runs hotter on a da. finer grits need that little cushon of velcro to keep it from being instantly wiped out. its usually only avail in discs also because unless your doing wet, finer grits need to be done on a da otherwise, again, it instantly clogs.
 
I guess I wasnt clear, I meant the rolls for sanding boards. Bob, I will check eastwood out and let us know how the roll you have works out.
 
I found Endasa brand on the roll in 600 grit.
That's the highest I found.
After that, you need a sanding block that has clamps
on it or just wrap it and hold it with the smaller blocks.
I think there's a logic that you don't need a long block
when useing fine paper. Fine papers don't straighten.
 
I use klingspor wet board paper in pretty much whatever grit you want til 2500. I will say I only use the board paper in the coarser grits of 600,800,& 1000. After that the folded 3m sheets with a wrap it soft block work better for me. Your already flat at 1000 grit so your only polising sandpaper scratches at this point. I have the part #'s and phone #'s out in the shop. I'll try to bring them in tomorrow. They are a really reasonably priced company with excellent products. You might as well cut eastwood's profit out of the mix. I have 4 durablocks around 14" that I wet sand. I use one at a time and rotate them as each one drys out. These are my favorite wet sand blocks. I just can't seem to get the 1500 board paper on a durablock to remove the 1000 grit paper mark consistently. Seem to get scratchers in there at play hell with it. The softer wrap it and roll blocks have more cusion and remove the 1000 grit marks with ease. No reason you couldn't find a softer block and use the longer block on 1500 grit and finer but it isn't going to change the outcome.
