Where did I go wrong?

I think i am just going to reclear at this point. The parts would be very tedious to polish with the geoemtries. Plan is to start sanding everything tonight with 800 wet and hopefully reclear tomorrow night.
As a side note, does anyone know of a good 3" buffer kit?

I got the bumpers and grill sanded last night with 800. I am going to grey scotch brite the rest to avoid breaking through and get the shine knocked off. I was wondering if it would be worthwhile to get some Presta Scuff Stuff to speed up the process, or am i better off just doing it dry?

I got my 3 inch buffer from the Matco tool man. often on sale and works great for small parts.

After sanding with 800 and scuff stuff, all of the problem areas are now pretty much gone. Looking forward to fixing this mistake. I have nobody to blame but myself. The irony is that now atleast i get to apply that show quality shine haha

Yesterday was successful in fixing the mistakes. 2 coats of UV clear over 800 wet. Im feeling better already

I am painting the remainder of the truck this weekend and do not want any surprises this time. My plan is to shoot the sealer and base all in one day, then wait "overnight" to shoot the clear. Can anyone further define what "overnight" actually is? I am thinking it could be up to 24 hours before the clear goes on after the last coat of base. WHat is the actual recoat window for the SPI basecoat before going on with the UV clear? Shop temps will be mid to upper 70's in the day and mid 60's in the evening.

The maximum recoat time for base is longer than most people realize. Overnight for me is 8-12hrs, but if it went 24hrs or days it wouldn't be an issue. I like 8-24hrs, you'll notice an increase in as sprayed gloss-it will be better. The time for the clear to reach full cure will also shorten since there's less trapped solvent. For your first coat of clear try to put a thin wet coat on, your next coats can go on a little heavier with the first coat already there to hold on to.
