Hi Guys,
i am on second stage of cleaning and repairing rust on the underside of my jeep cherokee, i have blasted the bottom and found some areas of frame that need repair, my plan is to weld up some 1/8 plate to both sides of the frame and 1 strip along the underside to weld both sides together. i have done some research on welding unibody frames and believe i have the procedure in mind on how to weld it to keep excess heat down. my question is what would be the best primer to spray on the frame and the inside of the plate that will be welded to the frame before i start to weld it. . i have some rattle can weld through primer, and i have spi epoxy primer. which would be better to treat the metal with, or is there another product i should be using?
also another question i have is what do i use to treat some rust spots that i cannot get to with the sandblaster, like the insides of the frames and other pockets that are rusted that i cannot get to with the media blaster or any other means ?
the picture i enclosed is prior to sand blasting of the section i am repairing, i am using garnet media if that makes any difference.
thank you for the help
