what is the difference between bondo and other brand fillers?

quality and price....bondo brand being the cheapest cost and lousiest quality IMO....

Resins, adhesion, sandability, shrinkage, speed, processing (air entrapment) . Price, min. Max. Applied thickness

^^^^^^^^^^^^^^what they said^^^^^^^^^^^ I think 3M bought out that brand but I don't know if quality has improved.

ive used the regular bondo on wood and the bondo gold on motorcycle tanks and fiberglass with no problems. the dynatron polyester stuff is easily available. im just wondering what would be better.

Id stay away from Dynatron fillers.. Just my personal opinion.. Spend decent money on a decent filler and you cant go wrong.. Evercoat makes some very affordalbe filler.. Z grip I think it is.. Like $20 a gallon.. Ive used better.. Like Rage Gold and Marson Platinum.. However Ive been told the formula for Marson has changed since 3M bought them out? I have'nt bought any Marson in a long time, all my stock from them is years old .. I use it for spot putty so it last forever seems like

automotive paint supply or walmart is the difference. and i absolutely hate anything dynatron makes. bad as shrink and wrinkle. i use evercoat products.

BK I really haven't seen a change since 3m bought them. That would be really dumb on their part if they decide to. 3m finally has a quality filler

a personal test for bondo gold was when my dirty carb with no air filter on my 74 firebird caught on fire i panicked (all i had to do was close choke, but used fire extinguisher LOL). it melted a perfect bubbled holley carb circle into my fiberglass hood scoop. i blocked and filled with bondo gold, couple coats of spi epoxy and real fire airbrushed it, been running it for years with no shrinkage or cracks and the scoop takes a lot of heat from the engine. whenever i paint of fill anything its get direct sun for a few hours so i dont get "surprises" later. :) learned that from barry!

i do so little work as a hobbyist a quart of something is better than a gallon. its nice to have more info and ill try the evercoat stuff if i can run across it.
