Waterborne W&G remover on Bondo?

Hey guys, is it safe to wipe down panels that have unprimed Bondo with the waterborne W&G remover? I've always been told never get water on Bondo so I wanted to ask the experts.

Thanks

Never get water on bodyfiller? Are you doing your fillerwork over epoxy? I've used waterborne cleaners over bodyfiller and never had any problems, heck-I've wetsanded filler and no problems but I do my fillerwork over epoxy. I'm sure most everyone that's wetsanded has cut through to filler now and then... The dangers are corrosion starting if there's bare metal under the filler and also priming before all the moisture has evaporated out.

I have used waterborne on filler too Bob. I just blow it with my heat gun in addition to the 30 minutes before primer rule.

Thanks for the replies. It is filler over epoxy. I've heard stories of moisture in the filler causing bubbles in the paint once the car is in the sun. Sounds like its ok to do but just make sure it has time to dry throughly.

I have done it as well. For those that say not to, What do you use? Do you just blow it off with air and then shoot primer over the filler? I think I remember reading to just let the filler/panel sit for 30 minutes to an hour, to make sure it's dry.

I would like to know the answer to this also...
I've been bitten twice now, by using the Waterborne over filler, and 30 minutes is not long enough in my shop.
Are we applying it to heavy?

It would depend a lot on humidity. We never have problems here, but our climate is very dry most of the time, unless it it thunderstorming.

I would use waterborne on filler any day, but if it's cold and/or humid, better to heat lamp it out before spraying.

I am curious as to the failure you are having. What is happening to the paint or primer that you putting over the bondo treated with W&G remover? How long till over you top coated did you see a problem, days or weeks? I too have had some concerns about using W&G remover over bondo. I do not use gloves to sand bondo and think a cleaner is necessary to remove fingerprints & oils from the contact with my hands before priming.
