Universal Clear over PPG DCC 9300 Single Stage

Tech sheet says to let Single Stage dry overnight before clearing. Should it be scuffed or just start spraying clear next day? Thanks....

u do not scuff base for clear or you may see scuff marks! someone else with more experience can tell you clearing window...

Just let set overnight and ONLY thing you need to do in morning (if even this) is a tack job and shoot the clear within 24 hours.

Thanks Barry, I was hoping you would chime in. Do I really need to wait overnight before clearing the SS or will a few hours suffice. Only reason I am clearing the SS at all is I am having some sand throughs when color sanding. I figure if I can bury the paint in clear I won't have these issues not to mention once the DCC 9300 sets up it is hard as nails and a pain to buff.

You could spray clear after 4 hrs.. Some people spray after last coat of ss.. others wait 24 hrs.. While some will sand, bake in the sun or booth then re clear. The suggestion Barry gave u will aide in having the best finish with no sanding of the ss..

You ask... Can u clear after a couple of hrs.. Yes you can. Is it the way prefers you to do it?? No

Why?? The sooner u clear.. the more potential for problems..
Wait till it locks up ( read overnight ) and those chances of problems drop drastically !!

Happy Spraying ;-)
